Introducing Copilot4DevOps 7.1: A More Powerful AI Assistant for Azure DevOps

Copilot4DevOps v7.1

Today, we are introducing Copilot4DevOps v7.1, a release focused on making your AI assistant more capable inside Azure DevOps. With support for the latest GPT model family, this version brings a sharper understanding and faster responses where teams work every day.

Version 7.1 places clear focus on requirements work. Teams can now analyze work items in more depth, apply fixes through chat, compare quality using standard methods, and generate structured spec documents directly from Azure DevOps. These updates help improve requirement quality early and keep teams aligned from planning through delivery.

General Enhancements and New Additions in Copilot4DevOps V7

1. Addition of the GPT 5.1 family

We’ve added support for the GPT 5.1 in Copilot4DevOps V7.1. Compared to CP version 7, it has better contextual understanding, offers more precise reasoning, and handles complex DevOps tasks with better efficiency.

2. Work item flow and visibility

In version 7, work items created by Copilot4DevOps were easy to miss. But CP V7.1 sends instant notifications to users when work items or visual generations are completed through Elicit, Convert, Generate, Diagram, Mockup, or Q&A features.

3. Stability and fixes

CP V7.1’s overall performance is improved, loads faster, and feels more responsive.

Also, fixed an issue where translations were inconsistent when using the German and French languages.

Feature Additions and Enhancements in Specific Modules of CP V7.1

1. Analyze

A. Chat with Analyze: On the work item analysis output interface, users can see the chat panel on the left side. You can apply recommendations, ask questions about the analysis output, or update work items using natural language directly through the chat.

For example, you can ask it to: “Rewrite work items and apply these recommendations to achieve a quality score 100/100,” and it will instantly update work items.

B. Dual view for single-select analysis: CP V.7 was offering only a table view in requirements analysis output. In V7.1, we’ve introduced “Radar-style Chart View” that visually represents scoring across criteria. This helps in quickly assessing strengths and improvement areas. From the UI, you can switch between table view and chart view.

C. INCOSE and EARS methods added: Requirement analysis now supports two additional methods, INCOSE Attributes and EARS Pattern, for structured quality checks.

2. Diagram

A. Confirmation pop-up before restoring versions: Teams told us that they often lose current changes when an unintended version restore happens. To solve that, we’ve introduced a confirmation pop-up, which always appears with a clear confirmation message informing them that their current diagram changes will be overwritten.
Restoring an older diagram version now shows a clear confirmation message. Users must explicitly confirm before the current changes are replaced.

B. Chat panel is collapsible: Now, you can collapse or expand the chat panel at any time. This gives more screen space to you while intersecting with diagrams.

3. Mockup

Similar to the Diagram module, the chat panel in Mockup is now collapsible. Also, it shows a confirmation pop-up during version restoration to avoid losing current changes in an unintended way.

Also, bug fixing is done where the title of the work item did not appear in the “Link to Work Item” dropdown.

4. Generate

In CP V7, the generate feature was able to write pseudocode and test scripts. However, with V7.1, users can also generate an “AI Spec Document” directly by providing single or multiple Azure work items as a reference.

This feature helps teams to prepare a structured specification document with the context of existing work items in no time.

5. Chat

We just don’t talk, but really listen to our users’ feedback and fix it.

In CP V7.1, we’ve fixed bugs where newly created chats were appearing at the bottom of the list instead of the top.

Also, fixed issues where chat renaming was not working.

Wrapping Up

Copilot4DevOps V7.1 is a focused step forward that strengthens core workflows without changing how teams already work.

In this update, our team has tried to remove small frictions that slow teams down by enhancing modules like Analyze, Diagram, Generate, AI Chat, etc.

We’re always committed to giving a better experience to our users by constantly listening to their feedback and working on it.

If you’re an existing user of Copilot4DevOps, give CP V7.1 a try and tell us your precious feedback, if any. So we can further improve the product.
