Shihan Fernando, Senior Vice President of Global Sales at Modern Requirements, opened the recent Copilot4DevOps V4 webinar with an exciting update. In a groundbreaking release to cap off 2024, it is designed to reshape how organizations use AI in DevOps. He started with a compelling use case: a U.S. financial client saved 100 hours monthly by leveraging Copilot4DevOps Plus to create test cases for 100 user stories.

Copilot4DevOps is already giving radical benefits to SQAs, among others.

This efficiency surge exemplifies the transformative power of Copilot4DevOps’ features like Elicit, Dynamic Prompts, and Analyze, which streamline processes and deliver ROI in record time.

The webinar promised to dive deep into these innovations, demonstrating how Copilot4DevOps V4 enables smarter workflows, boosts productivity, and ensures security—all hallmarks of Modern Requirements’ commitment to excellence.

1. Feature Highlights and Demos

The Mandate: 2x to 10x Productivity

Asif Sharif, CEO and founder of Modern Requirements, then shared a productivity mandate for his development team: double team efficiency within a year using AI tools—a milestone the team nearly achieved. He also shared the next step – a 10x productivity leap within three years, powered partly by the advanced capabilities of Copilot4DevOps.

This mission informed every feature of Copilot4DevOps showcased during the session, ensuring they cater to practical needs and deliver measurable impact.

Copilot4DevOps V4 offers new features like Diagramming and Document Generation.
i. Elicit: Drill-Down Precision and Text Blocks in AI DevOps

The Elicit feature saw a major upgrade. In V3, users gained the ability to drill down into linked work items. V4 builds on this by enabling seamless navigation from one work item to related work items within the same interface, streamlining workflows.

A standout addition is the Text Block feature, which allows users to save and reuse custom instructions. Text Blocks provide governance and consistency by enabling teams to standardize prompts, ensuring requirements or user stories align with organizational standards.

Text Block allows users to use repeatable and shareable prompts to streamline work item production

As an example, teams can create boilerplate content or embed company-specific context into a prompt, fostering repeatable and reliable processes.

ii. Diagramming: Intelligent Visualizations Made Easy in DevOps

The Diagramming feature is a brand-new addition to the interface and lets users easily create professional-quality visuals directly within Azure DevOps. Users let the AI auto-generate diagrams, or select between sequence diagrams, mind maps, and other types of diagrams. They can also edit diagrams based on custom markdown to tailor outputs to their needs.

Key features include:

  • Auto Mode: Automatically generates the most appropriate diagram type based on provided narratives.
  • Sub-Diagrams: Facilitates granular detailing through parent-child diagram relationships.
  • Narrative Generation: Provides explanations for diagrams in text form, enhancing documentation clarity.
  • Diagram Editing: Users can update diagrams through markdown or iterative prompts, ensuring flexibility.

With these tools, teams can visualize workflows, refine processes, and create documentation that is both comprehensive and easy to share.

iii. Document Generator: SOPs and Beyond for DevOps

The Document Generator is another new feature that revolutionizes how organizations produce critical documents and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). With inputs like industry context, product types, and specific standards, users can create editable detailed design documents, release notes, or even compliance guides.

Documents can be saved as Word or PDF files, with the option to include reusable content via Text Blocks. This feature simplifies cross-team collaboration and ensures every output aligns with organizational and industry requirements.

iv. Bring Your Own Data (BYOD) and Advanced Admin Controls

V4 introduces BYOD (Bring Your Own Data), an add-on capability enabling organizations to upload proprietary data—user manuals, old requirements, or internal wikis—into Copilot4DevOps’ learning environment. This private LLM ensures personalized outputs while maintaining data security.

Entra ID allows users to stay logged into Modern Requirements.

On the admin side, enhancements include:

  • Microsoft Entra ID Integration: Streamlines access control within Azure DevOps.
  • Tagging Control: Offers the option to disable tags for users without basic ADO licenses.
  • New Models: Adds GPT-01 Mini for tasks requiring higher reasoning capabilities.

These updates enhance scalability, data privacy, and user-specific configurations, making Copilot4DevOps even more adaptable to organizational needs.

2. The Pillars of Success

In closing, Shihan emphasized the four pillars driving Copilot4DevOps:

  1. Quality: Ensuring tools and outputs meet the highest standards.
  2. Productivity: Empowering teams to achieve 10x gains through streamlined workflows.
  3. Happiness: Enhancing user satisfaction by eliminating bottlenecks and encouraging creativity.
  4. Security: Offering enterprise-grade encryption and seamless integration into Azure DevOps, ensuring data integrity and compliance.

3. A New Era of AI DevOps

The Copilot4DevOps V4 webinar underscored how AI can transform DevOps practices. As Asif Sharif aptly noted, “Copilot4DevOps is more than a tool—it’s your Iron Man suit.” Copilot4DevOps is available in 3 variants: Lite, Plus, and Ultimate – the latest package which includes the newest features.

Copilot4DevOps allows three levels of increasingly powerful features for BAs, QAs, and more.

Modern Requirements’ decade-long partnership with Microsoft and recognition as an AI transformation partner further validate its commitment to shaping the future of DevOps.
